The new Drag and Drop Editor for creating your email campaigns was launched in June, 2024 to make it easier for you to create great looking, mobile responsive, emails without ever needing to delve into the code behind the email.
Here are the overall features:
Drag each required row into place - a row allows you to collect a section of content, and apply the same attributes to it, such as background colour, padding etc. Row structure (how many columns, and their relative width) is chosen as you drag and drop into your campaign.
Save rows for easy re-use later.
Drag content type into your row / columns, giving you easy to use controls for that content type, e.g. images, titles, paragraphs.
Upload your own images into your campaign (up to 1Mb in file size), or find a free image from the stock image library, or enter the URL of the image located on the web. You can also edit your images in many different ways, to suit your requirements.
Mobile preview, including the ability to turn elements on / off on mobile, and set different padding / font sizes etc just on mobile.
Transition
To help you transition between the previous editor and the new:
All new Enudge emails will default to the new editor.
All new Enudge Message Series emails will default to the new editor.
You cannot migrate an existing template / email campaign into the new editor, you have to create it from scratch, but you should find this a quick task, once you get the hang of the drag and drop editor!
If you copy an Enudge Email or Message Series Mail into a new email, the same editor used the original campaign will be carried through to the new email.
Template Styles now uses the new editor, but you can also access templates created using the previous editor via text link at the top the new Template List screen.
Key Features of the New Editor
Aside from the quick creation of your email layout by dragging and dropping elements around, the new editor provides:
Preview for both desktop and mobile.
Ability to turn off / on content on the mobile view, as well as control whether an element is stacked on mobile or retains it's horizontal layout, all done by the click of a button.
Ability to save rows from your email for easy re-use in other email campaigns.
Reverting to the Previous Editor
If you are in too much of a hurry to learn how to use the drag and drop editor right now, you can downgrade a newly created campaign back to the previous editor using the 'Revert Editor' button at the bottom of the Email Content & Test screen (for regular Enudge Emails) and at the bottom of the Template Edit screen (for emails inside a Message Series). This revert feature will only be available for a limited time, so we strongly recommend that you get to know the new tool as soon as possible. Ultimately it is easier to use!
We have now published a YouTube video where I take you through designing from scratch a beautiful, mobile responsive email campaign. So, if you like videos better than reading, please check out the video which runs for just under 40 minutes. Otherwise, please view our collection of articles about using the various aspects of the drag and drop editor.
